Animal and Friends Egg Hunt and Petting Zoo

  • Windsor Locks Congregational Church 8 Main Street Windsor Locks, CT. 06096 United States (map)

Parents,

We are excited to be able to serve you and your family with this fun and exciting children’s event. Below are some instructions and a schedule so you know what to expect. We look forward to meeting you and your children and to a safe and fun event for everyone.

We need YOUR help!

We are desperately looking for children willing to help us find and collect our lost Easter eggs.  Leroy  (who is a very naughty goose), came to our church for a visit, but he escaped from his pen. While on the loose he joined forces with Queenie and Buffy (several chickens that come to our church also), and together they found our stash of Easter Eggs.  Worse than that, they have hid them all over our church property and now we don’t know where they are!

We tried asking Leroy, but he only honked, we questioned Queenie and Buffy, but they only clucked and no one here speaks honk or cluck so that wasn’t helpful. We questioned all three of them vigorously, we offered them candy and treats, which they ate, but then refused to show us where they hid our Resurrection Eggs, they flapped their wings a lot, but we don’t know Goose or Chicken sign language.

So that didn’t work either.

We are desperate to find our Easter Eggs before the children’s program on Easter Sunday morning and we don’t know what to do!  Come and meet Leroy, Queenie, and Buffy in person and help us find our Eggs, and learn the story of Easter together, and get some candy too!

Schedule and Info for Animal and Friends event

Please REGISTER YOUR CHILDREN in advance so we can plan for safe distancing, and enough eggs and gift bags for the children.  (SEE REGISTRATION Form below)

Please bring masks for your children, as they will be required to wear them while on site. If your children have a fever or are not feeling well, please keep them at home. We realize it will be a disappointment, but we must consider everyone’s safety.  We are more than happy to put some eggs and a gift bag aside for them in the event of illness.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE please enter via of the driveway closest to the Post Office. There will be an “Enter Here” sign” at the entrance to indicate it’s the correct driveway. Volunteers will be on site to direct you to the rear parking area. Leroy, Queenie and Buffy (the naughty goose and chickens who hid our eggs), will be on hand to greet the children in the back parking lot.  When we are confident everyone has arrived we will tell the story of how the eggs got misplaced and begin the egg hunt.

The egg hunt will be separated into two groups by age of children. Age 4 and under will hunt for Easter eggs within our Sunday school classrooms, while the older children will hunt for eggs outside our buildings. Eggs will contain a variety of different candies. If your child has an allergy to nuts or other candies, you will need to decide if this event is for them and be prepared to monitor their intake yourself. Please be prepared to instruct older children they should not gather eggs in excess so that all the children have an opportunity to gather some eggs. If your child has a disability or a special need that will make the hunt difficult, please let us know in advance and we will do all we can to work with you to make it a great event for your child.

Once the egg hunt is completed (Likely by 9:30 or so),   we will gather at the activity area for some hot chocolate and the telling of the resurrection story. The children will receive a small key chain related to the Easter story along with a goody bag. We will conclude the activity area events by 10:00AM. By then the petting zoo should be set up and ready to roll. You are free to enjoy the petting zoo until 11:00AM when it will close and the animals are put away.

Again we look forward to serving you and your children with this fun and exciting event.
