Matthew 6:9-13
9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’

Discussion Guide

  1. Why does praying “Thy will be done” necessitate the corollary prayer “not my will but Thine be done”?
  2. What in God’s character helps us to trust that God’s will is best (v. 9)?
  3. Why is obedience key to discerning God’s will (John 14:21 and James 1:22-25)? Where do we find God’s revealed will? Are you obeying what has been clearly revealed? Why is this so important?
  4. What helps need we pay attention to in order to discern God’s will?
  5. How did Daniel’s friends live out “Thy will be done”? Who has obeyed completely God’s will? What practical difference does this make for us?

We may not be around right now, but you can send us an email and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
